Decisions, Decisions

Lately I've noticed a lot of shedding and tangling (at the ends of my hair while dry) and I'm almost fed up with it. I've tried everything from deep conditioners to protein treatments. I even did a strand test to see if my hair was shedding (possibly breaking) from protein or moisture overload...but passed the test. My hair was actually healthy!

Strand Test - Tug Test
The tug test measures the elasticity of your hair. Healthy hair is slightly stretchy, while unhealthy hair is brittle and breaks when put under even minor stress. To perform a tug test, dampen a section of your hair. Grip two to three strands between your thumb and forefinger and gently pull on the ends. If it stretches by about one-third of its original length and bounces back when you let go, it's healthy. However, if your hair breaks off, it has suffered some damage to the cortex and is not structurally sound.

Then i expressed my concerns to one of my good friends and she told me "The reason could be that your hair sheds in the winter...while others shed in the summer". At that point...the light bulb came on in my head. She was right! Then my sister said that when her hair was long her ends tangled just like mine. She suggested that i keep my ends moisturized and put it in a protective style.

I'm still not sure what i want to do. I kind of want to weave it up till April (using my trusty Bohyme) or buy a lacefront. Both are great protective styles. With a weave...i don't have to worry about the manipulation but with the lacefront i can keep my hair braided weekly...but also keep a close monitor on my shedding (if that makes sense). Both ideas/styles are low maintenance and heat free.

My Braidout

On Monday I decided to try a braid-out for the week. I moisturized with S-Curl and EVCO and sealed with Vaseline on dry freshly washed hair. The results were AMAZING!!! Check it out!!!

Next Install Idea/Sneak Preview

Hey Guys,
Since having this install in my hair, I can't stop thinking about what i'm going to do next. I've been searching the net far and wide to get ideas, but I always go back to this youtube video that I saw over the summer. I subscribe to JanetCollectionTV's youtube channel to get many hair ideas and saw this one video they made on their newest Indian hair line. One model in particular had this bomb weave and I kept thinking...I WANT THAT STYLE!!! So that will be my plan for my next install which will be done Oct 22nd or the 23rd. I won't be using the hair in the video, but I plan on using my trusty Bohyme Brazilian Wave that I love so dearly. I'm using my Bobraz (in short) because I love the fact that it does not shed like a dog and can be blown straight. Since I plan on keeping that install in till the end of the year I will stick to what I know and love.

Here's the video. Oh and BTW...the hairstyle i'm talking about is the girl wearing the Indian Remy Line

Hairstyle Ideas

As you guys know...I'm planning on wearing my real hair until October to see if I get a significant amount of growth without a weave. Essence.com has wonderful hairstyles in their hair gallery. I was able to find hairstyles that 1. will be a protective heat free style and 2. will look cute on me. I plan to take pics of my version once I successfully duplicate what is pictured below. Here's what I found:

Buns, Ponytails and Updo's

Braided Styles
Rollersets and Flexirods

Just For Fun!

Hola,
Ok so I was REALLY feeling the hairstyle I ended up with when I went to church....so I asked my lil sis to take pics. Enjoy!

Basically what I did was took the wrap out I had last night. Put hot roller in my hair and then pinned my hair to the side. I parted my hair in the opposite direction my wrap was which made the sweep bang nice and full. I got so many compliments on this style....it's a keeper!
